What do you do when you find a lost dog?
I found a dog in my backyard. It has no collars or tags or anything. I brought it inside because it’s raining. I don’t have any dog food that I could give it. I know I should take it to the vet, but I want to wait till my mom comes home because I’m babysitting my one month old sister, and I don’t want to bring the baby with me. The dog looks fine (I think it’s a chocolate lab?).. but he has a bit of a limp. Here’s a picture:

I plan on bringing it to the vet later, but is there anything I should do in the mean time? I don’t know if I’m going to keep it or not.
Don’t worry the baby isn’t alone with the dog. The dog went straight to the couch when I brought him inside. He seemed very friendly..
I DID move the baby already by the way, and I’ve checked down my street to see if anyone’s lost a dog or if they’ve seen him before.
Call local shelter and ask if anyone contact about lost dog. I think he is pitbull. Also post picture of the dog around the area you found the dog. Also post notice and picture at local pet stores. In the mean time, please keep the dog away from baby. You don’t know if dog has some sickness or not.
