Adopted a Retriever/Chow/Shepherd mix.?
he is such a sweet dog. One reason I adopted him was for his size since I’m a single mom without man in the house. And he has a great temperment. He is so friendly that I don’t know if he will be protective or aggressive if someone were to break- in. He is very alert and has started barking when he’s in the backyard and he here’s something. I have only had him for a few weeks, I do know that even though he loves EVERYONE, he is pretty bonded to my son and I. But will he be naturally protective if a situation arises?

The chow in him will probably be protective.
From what I understand, it is a characteristic of that breed to be a “one person” or “one family” dog, meaning they are very bonded to their immediate people family and will do anything to protect them.
